Description
Like all Demons of Ecstasy, the Kings exist in a state of rapturous transcendence that brings them out of reality and beyond the limits of their physical form. They live in a state of heightened emotion so extreme that it makes them almost impervious to pain and capable of unbelievable feats of speed and strength. However, they are subject to wild swings in the emotional high upon which they constantly ride. Fickle beyond reason, they slaughter allies or lovers on a whim and, later, weeping rivers at their loss. Driven by their changing desires, they are as much slaves to themselves as masters of others. All feelings are theirs, both the heights of dazzling pleasure and the depths of agonizing torment.
Most Kings of Ecstasy dwell in massive, opulent palaces where there is a lavish abundance of all pleasures imaginable and unimaginable. Extravagant cannibalistic feasts, oil scented baths, mad orgies, blood sports, and decadent dens where soul dust can be smoked with reckless abandon are common sights. Around every corner, a new tribute to excess can be uncovered, and nothing is forbidden to the followers of Ecstasy. Acolytes ebb and flow in endless waves of worship and sacrifice. Demonic courtiers compete for position, simultaneously plotting against and fawning over each other and the King himself. Seemingly beautiful vistas are but facades for hedonistic indulgence and the suffering that it brings.
More rarely, a King will be found existing in solitude. Alone, wrapped in transcendent contemplation of even the simplest of things. They may sit for eons, slowly carving and recarving intricate patterns into their own flesh, amazed at the unbelievable beauty to be found in the falling patterns of blood that cascade off their flesh. Like a perverse monk, they may sit longer, still, captivated by their own reflection in a mirror or pool–lost in overwhelming tides of emotion.
While many seek the favour and blessing of a King of Ecstasy, it is always folly to do so. Rarely do their attentions end in anything other than suffering and death.
