How to Paint Vashtorr Skintone
With the new Vashtorr released, we want to show you a quick and easy way to create the perfect skin tone on your model! As we don’t have a Vashtorr, we’ll be demonstrating the skin tone on a Khorne Daemon.
You’ll need:
- The Colour Forge Ghoul Grey
- Citadel Druchii Violet
- Citadel Grey Seer
- Vallejo Arctic White (or any white paint)
1. Prime and Lightly Wash Vashtorr with Druchii Violet
Prime your model with a coat of Colour Forge Ghoul Grey spray paint. Next, take the Citadel Druchii Violet and water it down. You’re aiming for a 50/50 mix of water and ink so it will go smoothly onto the model. Paint this mix onto the model, making sure to get it into all the recesses. You also want to start defining the muscle tone and other details with this wash.
2. Add Another Layer of Wash
Let this coat of paint dry before applying another layer of the 50/50 mix of Druchii violet and water. Go in with a smaller brush so you can pick out more of the key details on the model, adding depth to some of the key features.
3. Mix in Grey Seer to Start Highlighting
Mix in some Citadel Grey Seer into the wash, making sure to keep the paints watered down. Start picking out the highlights on the models with your brush, looking at where the light would naturally hit your model. You want to build the details up slowly, so don’t worry if the first coat is a bit light. Once the first coat is complete, wait for it dry before adding another coat of paint. You’ll want to add a couple of coats of paint to get good coverage on your model.
4. Add Arctic White to Pick out More Highlights
After you’ve added those layers of mix, add in some Vallejo Arctic White (or any white paint you have lying around) into your paint mix and continue to build up the details on your highlights. Again, you want to do this slowly and with a light coat of paint each time to add in the depth and dimension onto your model.
You’ll want to add at least a couple of coats of this paint onto your model to get the perfect skin tone effect you’re looking for. This quick and easy skin tone tutorial will make sure your new Vashtorr is battle ready in no time!
