Description
The Janus is one of the smallest PHR walkers encountered, focusing on forward observation, recognisance and urban patrol. While much less resilient than its larger cousins, it is considerably faster and far more nimble. Armed with Stealth Missile Batteries, they are still a formidable threat. Hermes Disruption Walkers have also been encountered. These walkers forgo direct firepower for a disrupting sonic hum which vibrates at deliberate frequencies to cause extreme discomfort to nearby infantry. UCM Legionnaires have reported effects from nosebleeds to crippling migraines and dizziness all the way to ruptured blood vessels and even death when exposed for too long.
With the Scout Walkers you have two options: cheap and surprisingly effective anti-light armour, or super annoying. The Janus comes complete with a Stealth Missile Battery, which provides decent Penetrative firepower. The Janus’ main goal is to provide line of sight for Indirect fire weapons, and it’s cheap enough to make that worthwhile. Meanwhile the Hermes has very little direct damage (just a Minigun), but its Sonic Disruptor makes it all but impossible for nearby infantry to search for Objectives. Use them carefully and you’ll be able to completely avoid one part of the board for the first few turns as your opponent scrambles to deal with these little walkers.
Contains 4 multi-part resin miniatures with parts to make all as either Janus Scout Walkers or Hermes Disruption Walkers.
Resin miniatures supplied unpainted and unassembled. This kit will require cleaning and assembly, and could need some small holes filled. Any miniatures or scenery are shown for scale only and not included.
The Janus is much smaller and lighter than Battle Walkers. Its primary mission profiles are forward observation, recognisance and urban patrol. While much less resilient than its larger cousins, it is considerably faster and far more nimble. The Janus is also light enough to be carried by the speedier Triton class dropships, allowing it to occupy crucial objectives ahead of the main force.
Despite its diminutive size, the Janus is still a deadly threat on the battlefield. Armed with both an RX-20 minigun and a compact Shadowkiller stealth missile system, it is able to engage both infantry and armour. As such, it is often employed on the flanks and vanguards of main formations, able to out-manoeuvre enemy forces and ambush them where most vulnerable.
Janus pilots tend to be the youngest experienced enough to control a battle walker. They are brave, daring and often brash individuals, keen to prove their skills in the fires of combat. With experience and repeated success in battle, Janus pilots often transition to larger battle walkers later in their careers.
